BLACK FRIDAY 2014 Shopping Haul- Kate Spade, Old Navy, Sport Chek, MAC, Victoria Secret & more... (LONG POST)

Today was my FIRST EVER Black Friday shopping spree!!!! Many people think I shop a lot due to my large range of MK/Coach bags, but I never real go on an actually haul for clothing etc since its SO expensive. I went to buy jeans last time and lowest price I could find for a pair of jeans was $44 dollars. Talk about pricey! So why not take advantage of this opportunity. Thank goodness its Pay Day.

This is going to be a LONG post (as stated in the title-lots of pictures mostly). I did both online shopping and went to Toronto Eaton Centre for the remaining items. Lets get started:

Kate Spade NewYork- 75% Online Sale:

Mika Pond Stacy Wallet (Color-> Fresh Air):
I have been some what obsessed with the "Tiffany Blue" colour (as you could tell with my Nike purchase). Instead of me a getting pink wallet, which would be my normal take, I got this Tiffany blue wallet! Kate Spade rarely does sales, but of course Black Friday would be 75% OFF!! I have never seen that happen in a long time! I took great advantage of this and ordered this beauty. Regular price being $100-120 dollars and now down to $49.99. Pretty good deal! I also wanted a mini bag, which use to be $200 and now $69.99 but of course its sold out.....
So with shopping (thanks canada) and tax it came out to $69.58 (compared to $130). This item is SOLD OUT now. Saved $60 bucks

Betsy Johnson- 33% OFF (Code: BLACK):

Hollywood Glam Leopard Face Necklace:
I bought this necklace for my Mother! She absolutely loves Betsy Johnson necklaces (just like myself) for many reasons. Main reason why we love Betsy Johnson Jewellery in general, is it STANDS OUT! Like talk about bling bling. Many of the necklaces I have purchased for her in the past, always bring in the compliments when she or myself (when I kidnap her jewellery for a particular outfit) wear it, regardless of occasion. Original price is $98 dollars. It was on sale for $69.98 and thanks to 33% OFF deal, comes down to $46.98! Thanks to shipping (once again) and tax the price shoots back to $71.45 (sometimes I wish I lived in US). However with the normal price, tax and shipping I would be paying about $130 dollars. Saving $60 bucks!

SuperDry:

Hyper Herder Snood (Color-> Cream):
This is a chunky, waffle knitted snood with a thick fleece lining plus, a soft faux-fur trim. It includes the SuperDry logo, right and centre. I decided to pick this up since, I love wearing scarves during winter, and I thought this is pretty fashionable & match my Goose jacket pretty nicely. I had no knowledge of SuperDry at ALL, but was introduced by Noah (thanks buddy). The normal price is $70 dollars, and came down to $49.99. Also with the black friday promotion there NO TAX and FREE shipping. So I paid $49.99 Flat which makes me Save a total of $40 bucks if you add tax/shipping.

This was my Online Shopping Craze for the night. Now moving onto what I got from Eaton Centre:

Sport Chek- NO TAX from 8AM-10AM:

UnderArmor Women UA Big Logo Applique Twist Hoodie (Color- Siberian Iris):
ONLY reason why I picked this up was due to a FACT (I know, I worked at Sport Chek) that this product NEVER goes on sale. Underarmor is the one company that RARELY goes on sale (boxing day is one of the only occasions). Hoodies were 25% OFF, so the normal price is $69.99 and came down to $44.99. There were many styles and colour combination to choose from but I thought this was a nice mix and eye catcher, especially if you wear it with tights. I truthfully am in LOVE with the colour, Hands down! WORTH EVER PENNY! Note, I haven't bought a underarmor sweater since I quit Sport Check which was in November 2013 so this is an achievement.

Underarmor Women Armour Sport Bra- DD cup (Colour- Black/Purple)
I FINALLY got the Sport Bra I wanted!!! I was lucky, not ONLY did I get the zipper front version in my size, but also got it ON SALE (talk about RARE)! The originally price for the bras are $69.99 but was on sale for $44.99! Sold! Got the second last one! I tried it on and boy does it keep your boobs in PLACE! I can Jog, jump etc and they will not move! Not to mention the quality/material is superb compare to other brands and I have never heard anything negative about this branded bra. Even the lady at sport chek told me this is the Bra to get when your REALLY active! I knew that of course, but always nice to get a second opinion! Im defiantly ready for the gym on monday! So total price for both items was $97.98 (no tax) compared to $160 with tax which let me Save $60 dollars.

Old Navy- 50% OFF ENTIRE STORE:
I WENT CRAZY AT OLD NAVY! I have NEVER bought so many clothes in one time since...like 3-5 years ago! We were in the store for a good 1.5 hour trying clothes on and looking around. I got a number of items but basically the essential things included:

  • Black/White Scarf: $19.99 (Sale: 9.99)
  • Black and White Polka Dot Pants: $32.99 (Sale: 16.50)
  • 2 Workout Tights (Galaxy Blue & Black/Grey): $35 each (Sale: 16.75)
  • 2 Workout Tops (Magenta Shirt/ Neon Pink & Neon orange Tank Top): $15 (Sale: $7.50)
  • Red Long Sleeve shirt: $20 (Sale: $10)
  • 2 Grey Cardigans (One thin/one thick): $35/$25 (Sale: $16.75/12.50)
  • Black T-shirt: $10 (Sale: $5)
Together without the sale would total $243 and with tax= $275.
Total WITH the Sale was $141.
I Saved $134 dollars

MAC- Cosmetics (NO SALE)
Sadly, MAC wasn't doing ANY promotions on ANYTHING, So I simply picked up a lipstick I've been wanting for a while (FIRST MAC lipstick, finally) and a pencil to give me a very dark gothic look.

MAC Matte Lipstick: Heroine (a nice bright purple)
Due to it being WAY to bright (which I honestly DONT mind) I added the MAC Pro Long Lip Pencil- Bespoken For. When using this in combination will give a very nice DARK looking purple which is what my primary goal is. I usually wear very bright, eye catching lipstick which I do love. However, in the new year I want to change my appearance just a bit, THUS fitting my imaginary image.

I have to admit, the women who served us was RUDE! Like to the point, where not only talked to someone about it, I called the store to complain and filing a complaint online as well -3- (don't play with me when it comes to attitude). I asked this lady to show me a good foundation, ONLY applies it to one side of my face, and when I stated I wasn't going to purchase it today but wanted a the name of the foundation and powder blend, she told me to write it in my phone -__-. Like WTF, If i wanted to write it in my phone I would have done so bitch....Grr! Not to mention, I specifically asked for the Heroine lipstick and she stated she would get it for us, but instead goes and serves another asian customer -__-!! Leaving me and my best friend to STAND there for 3 minutes. Totally pissed off. I will see to it that she gets in trouble!

Victoria Secret - Up to 50% OFF
This is my first purchase from Victoria Secret. Truthfully, I assumed they wouldn't have bigger sizes but to my surprised they had a large selection. The sale today was Buy 4 panties for $28.50 compared to 1 panties is $11.50-13.50. So my total was $32 dollars with tax compared to $52 dollars. I saved $20.

Bath & Body Works- Buy 3 Wicked Candles for $33.50:
Yes....I BOUGHT CANDLES AGAIN! I know, I have an addiction....seriously. Anyways, I decided to take advantage of this sale since the last time I passed by it was 2 for $34 dollars. I was only going to purchase 2 (Buy 2 for $25.50) BUT I remembered I had a $10 OFF coupon in my wallet, so I picked one extra candle and got 10 dollars off. So my total came to $25 dollars (LITERALLY the price for ONE candle, and I got 3!!! Now that is a AMAZING deal). I was originally going to buy more Carmel (my previous one is almost done), but I found Hot Buttered Rum & Pumpkin Gingerbread, so I decided to purchase those. Total Savings was $55 dollars (would be $75 dollars plus tax)

THATS IT!!! (For my clothing Haul that is!!!). I did do Part 2 of Shopping which was going to Costco with my best friend for some healthy food, but that will be a separate blog.

Overall, I SAVED $430 dollars Today :D!!!! Extremely Proud!

Till Next Time...

Bath & Body Works Haul...Again

Yes, I indeed have some type of addiction. I once again, went to Bath &Body Works at Eaton Centre to Buy MORE candles. As I've stated before, I do love candles but would never buy from B&BW just cause it is pricey. On a normal day, these candles will rank up to $25 per candle, so if you buy 2 thats already $50 bucks. Buy more than that, well your spending WAY to much for candles. However, I now understand WHY people spend so much for these candles and now with the "Buy 2 or 3 and Get 2/3 for FREE" event is going on before christmas, I think this is the PERFECT opportunity not only to grab some candles or body lotions for yourself, but good for Christmas gifts (esp people who you don't want to spend $50 or more on and aren't as close to you)

What did I buy this time?

1. Cinnamon Carmel Swirl: Now, I did indeed buy this in my last Haul, so why waste another 22 bucks for ANOTHER one? Well this scent is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I, tried both this one and the Japanese Cherry Blossom versions and was a little disappointed that I couldn't smell the Cherry blossom one (well atm I'm pretty sick so I cant smell through my nose -_-). However, being sick did not stop me from smelling this beautiful blend. The carmel is very strong compared to the cinnamon but overall its very calming scent. This in a few seconds will not only smell throughout the room its placed but spread around the house. This scent only comes during Christmas time so I'm defiantly taking advantage of this.

2. Winter Candy Apple: I bought this one since it had a really nice candy cane scent to it. Also being a limited time scent, I decided I might as well try it. I applied some of the lotion to my hands and was very impressed with the blend. I would have bought the lotion as well, but to take advantage of the deal, I might as well get two extra candles (each originally $25) so save about $60 bucks compared to getting lotions which are normally $10-$12.50.

3. Vanilla Bean Noel: I honestly loved the name for this candle and the blend seemed to go with its title. Though the Scent is not as strong compared to the others, I decided to get it for 2 reasons: A. Vanilla anything smells awesome, and B. Its FREE. So I would take 100% advantage of this deal and promotion and pick up a scent which I clearly wont be able to get later in the year.

4. Limoncello: This was another FREE candle. This had a very strong lemon scent but not strong enough to annoy your nose, especially if lit. Though, I believe this candle can be purchased year round but there wasn't any other Christmas candles that were to my liking, so I picked this up if my room needed a fresh lemon smell to it, especially if I get visitors (not like my room smells but hey little air freshener doesn't hurt)

5. Pumpkin Cupcake: This scent is ANOTHER adorable combination! Who would have thought pumpkin cupcake would smell so delicious. This was actually a FALL scent and they brought the miniature size version too clear it out for christmas season. I wish they had this in the bigger version since it such a calming blend, similar to the carmel but this scent was embedded in my brain and I just had to purchase it. It was $5 dollars each so I bought two which allows me to get two other items ($5 or under) FREE. Which leads to #6.

6. Snowman Candle Holders (mini version): I choose this design to hold my miniature pumpkin cupcake candles since I personally know I wont use these candles as often or for more of a "special" night, due to me having such a limited amount (also having to wait till next year October to purchase the bigger size). Since it was FREE, why not get them to design my desk a bit more. Plus, they're adorable -///-

Finally, another reason why buying these candles is way worth it is their "lifespan" is amazing compared to other candle products. As stated, my family love candles. My mom puts one on usually 3-5 times during the week or 1 per day. Due to such frequency, we run out of candles pretty quickly. I lit the carmel candle and took a nap before my shift (yes I know, you shouldn't sleep with candles on especially if you home alone) and literally burned probably have the candle. However, the wax will cool down and return to its original state for your next usage. Compared to other candles where when its gone....well its gone LOL. So, it may look like a lot right now, but it will last me a LONG time :D

Bath & Body Works have ALOT of good stuff from candles, lotions and really good gift packs, so I would take advantage while you can. The sale ends December 24, 2014 AND with any purchase they will give you a $10 OFF coupon. I paid for the pumpkin candles (10 dollars), got the coupon and than purchased my 2 candles ($49) which brought the purchase to $39 and got 2 large candles ($50 dollar value) for Free. I smell Savings!! If you are candle person or lotion person, than this is the place to go.

Till Next Time...

GUESS, Nike Free Runs, Bath&Body Works Haul- Review

Today I did a little Shopping!!! I went to GUESS, Sport Chek and Bath&Body Works at Eaton Centre with Anissa and Lina.

GUESS:
Item purchased: Delany Mini Tote (BROWN)
Reason of purchase: GIFT
I bought this bag from my friend Lina as her Birthday/Christmas Gift. I'm personally not a GUESS fan (due to bad annoying obnoxious friend who had an obsession with GUESS and loved to rub in my face how "rich" she was by buying bags all the time with her parents money -_-. However, this tote did catch my eye. The quality is good, the colour is classy and original so it can be used literally with any outfit whether its just out with friends or for a more casual night at the bar. I don't think it would be a good fit with a very "high class" outfit but if combined properly with a good outfit, it can be pulled off. It was $70 dollars plus tax so around $85 dollars which is a pretty good price for a mini tote seeing as other brands such as MK etc will sell this bag for around $150-200 and it's slightly smaller in size/shape. Overall, I was pretty pleased with the style, quality and presentation of the bag. Not to mention my friend absolutely LOVED it! Defiantly recommend it as a gift esp for Christmas which is fast approaching...

SPORT CHEK:
Items purchased: Nike Free 5.0 Runners & Nike Free 3.0 V5 Runners
Reason for purchase: I NEED RUNNING SHOES

Me and my bestie Anissa went to Sport Chek cause they're currently have a BUY ONE get the other 50% off sale which they usually do maybe 4-5 times/year. I decided to take advantage of this since I only have one main pair of underarmor running shoes and they are pretty dead (like the inside liner is falling out -_-). Since I'm joining the gym next month (Already paid for my membership WOOT), I need some new kicks. Also, Im personally in LOVE with Nike and Underarmor brands. Their shoes have always been my favourite due to the unique combination of colours and quality. I was going to buy one Nike and one Underarmor but they didn't have the colour I was looking for in my size (I have huge feet, size 11....Genetics).

1. Nike Free 3.0 V5 Runners-> Turquoise/Grey/Sliver "Tiffany Blue"
I'm officially IN LOVE with these!!! I have seen this pair ALL over Instragram used with its given nickname "Tiffany Blue Nike Shoes". The colour combination is perfect, the blue alone is a such a nice shade (Turquoise is one of my favourite shades of blue). I originally never noticed it since it was located on the VERY top shelf. Anissa had pointed it out to me when they didn't have my size in the underarmor shoe I was interested in. THANK GOD they had this in my size! This was a must buy regardless of the promotion. Price: $129.99

2. Nike Free 5.0 Runners-> Hyper Grape/Court Purple, Summit White/Hyper Turquoise
This was the last pair in 11 the store associate could find. Since its so hard to find my size, it was difficult for the sale associate to find me something I really liked. I needed a second pair to get the 50% off deal so I decided hey, lets get another pair! This was a good combination (dark purple with tiffany blue!!! C'mon WHY NOT). I was REALLY happy with this purchase. Original price: $129.99

BATH & BODY WORKS:
Item purchased: 2 Candles, 1 Body Lotion, 1 Christmas Limited Candle Holder
Reason of purchase: Need candles that will last more than a week, other bought d/t promotion

Finally, I went to B&BW because I've wanted candles from them for a REALLY long time! I've seen their candles on many Youtube hauls, room decor tours etc, so I was really interested in getting some myself. I love lighting up candles as well since my Mom does it ALL the time, so I kinda got use to it. Also, it helps when Im home alone and playing video games or watching TV. So currently, they're doing a Buy 2 get 2 FREE OR Buy 3 get 3 Free! I honestly should have bought 3 and get 3 but I decided to budget myself since I have more Christmas shopping to get out of the way and just pick some more up later.

1. Cinnamon Carmel Swirl Candle: The scent is pretty nice overall. Many of the other candles either had weird combinations or just couldn't be smelled AT ALL (and I would not waste money on something I can't smell when NOT lit). The Carmel is a little stronger than the Cinnamon but the combination is very soothing to the nose and if lit complements one another.
Price: $22

2. Japanese Cherry Blossom Candle/Body Lotion: To be honest, I've had my eye on this particular lotion for a LONG time! One of my previous friends had bought me the body wash (gave it to my mom to use, so never really got to enjoy the scent) but I've wanted a lotion version to either carry around during work, or to apply after my showers to prevent dry skin. This MUST be very popular since I've wanted this for about 1-2 years ago and its STILL here. I love the scent so much that I bought both the candle and lotion (would have honestly bought the portable lotion container too). I tried the lotion today, applying small amount to my hands (around 2145pm) and now it being 0530am now, I can STILL smell the fragrance in my hands. My hands are still soft, smooth and feel moisturized compared to other lotions which the scent would fade within the hour and reapplying would be necessary. I'm VERY impressed. Price: $22/ FREE (for the lotion, originally $12.50)

3. Christmas Limited Edition Candle Holder: Finally, I decided to get at least one Candle Holder, for my lovely candles and to make my room a BIT more stylish. As you can see in the top picture, my desk is pretty small but has enough room to decorate it. Since its Christmas its a good holiday season decoration to add to my desk (which I almost never sit at, unless playing my 3DS or PS3). I just loved the design and how it holds the candle. Even when Christmas is over its still a nice candle holder esp for B&BW candles. Price: FREE (original $11.99)

Customer Service was Excellent in ALL 3 stores and I had a good shopping day! I'm really enjoying B&BW products so I may pass by there tomorrow to get more...well see =D. Till next time

Pickle Barrel Restaurant/Bar/Cafe - Yorkdale Review

Today I went to Pickle Barrel (I don't know why I spell Pickle wrong sometimes -__-), at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. Ive went to this location I believe 3 times in total. When you enter, you have to go down to the 2nd floor. Once there, you will either be serviced to your tables OR must walk down to the second entrance  to be seated in the other dinning area (this during days when its less busy).

I have never had a bad experience with this location pickle barrel. Customer service is usually pretty good, washrooms are clean (you now can wave your hand on the side of the door and it will automatically open 0.o), and servers are quick. Depending on how busy it is determines how long your food may take, however, PB tries to give you appetizers and drinks real fast so your mouth is occupied while you wait for the main course. So what we ordered;

DRINKS:
Iced Cafe Mocha. I only tried this since both occasions Noah always orders it so I decided why not? It has expresso, chocolate,  frozen yogurt, and milk. To finish it off, is a nice amount of whip cream on top. The drink texture is slightly thick but smooth enough to go through the straw, for those who love to drink really fast. The combination was REALLY nice. I personally did not think it would taste that great but I WAS impressed (10/10). Took me some time to finish it (literally was done when I paid the bill) so it not necessary to order anything else besides from Water if you really want to. May be tempted to buy another though :P. Price: 3.99

APPETIZER:
Crispy Calamari was next on the list. I usually order this regardless of restaurant (Jack Astors, Moxies, Joeys) since it is a really good appetizer. The sauces are different at each location, Jack Astors having spicy tomato type sauce and a nice garlic ranch mix, Joey having a spicy Mayo, and Moxies also having a spicy mayo. With PB, it comes with roasted peppers aioli and spiced tomatillo sauce. Lemon is put on the side for you to add to your pleasure (totally recommended with lemon, without it makes it very dry). Overall, it was good. My ONLY complaint is the amount you get compared to Jack Astors. For $10.99 (same price at JA, 11.99-12.99 at Joeys and Moxies), the amount is really small. Maybe for one person its a good amount, but for 2 or more, nope. Sure its an appetizer but still for the price, they could do better. However, today amount was better than previous visits

Buffalo Chicken Wings (1lbs- Dinner Option), was what I ordered. I never knew there was a dinner option which comes with fries, coleslaw and gravy (it was never brought up previously). It comes with carrot/celery sticks and bleu cheese dip. For the blue cheese dip, PB changed their previous dip which was much more of a liquid type form and easier to glaze over your wings compared to the new "thick" version which is more of a dip-bite version. Their portion is much smaller, which requires you to probably get two servings. The bleu cheese itself was pretty strong (not a huge fan of bleu cheese but it goes well with wings) so I didn't touch the second dip I requested. It terms of the sauces, originally you can get Honey Garlic, BBQ, and Buffalo Hot. However, apparently they have removed the honey garlic (permanent) so I had to get the BBQ/Hot option compared to my usual HoneyG/Hot (very good combo, try it!). Overall the food was "okay". I only ate about 5 of the wings (I didn't like the mix), the blue cheese was too thick, and coleslaw was really watery. I really only enjoyed the fries with the gravy. I rate it a 5.5/10. I could have just gotten the wings compared to the dinner option which made it $15.99 than the original $10.99

MAIN DISH:
Lobster Grilled Cheesed,  was what Noah ordered. It consisted of lobster, spinach, brie, swiss cheese, twelve grain bread, french fries (regular OR sweet potato), and coleslaw. It seemed very filling and its contents were all good in amount. I would rate it 9/10 and the next on my "try out" list. Price is $11.99

Total Bill was $57.98 & $5 tip which equalled to $63 dollars

Customer Service: 9/10 (was pleased but expected a bit more)
Food: 8/10 (the chicken wings really brought the score down everything else was amazing)
Would I Go Back: YES

Regardless, PB food is good for its prices most of the time and service is pretty good overall. Environment is Classy and Elegant and good for dinner with friends or a date.

Till Next Time...

Pandora Jewellery Disney/Winter Collection - Fairview Mall Review

Chriselle Lim-> Fashion Blogger collaborates with Pandora
Today I went to Pandora Jewellery, Fairview location to look into the Disney &Winter Collections which got released today Nov. 1. This is a limited edition collection that usually occurs during Christmas time for Pandora. So this is my review on Pandora, its customer service, and my current pandora charms.

Pandora Jewellery is one of the few retailers that provide unique, authentic jewellery at an affordable price. The "charm bracelet" concept alone, is one of the most popular aspects of Pandora, offering various number of charms (more than 600), all with different meanings and perfect to buy for oneself or gifts for others. They defiantly embrace their key phrase "Unforgettable moments" because they're jewellery will have a way to remind you of events/people/occasions that were memorable and deserve a item to represent that moment.

I purchased my Pandora bracelet back in September of this year. I was introduced to the concept by one of my teachers and thought it was a unique. To be able to wear a bracelet that matches pretty much anything, looks expensive (the more charms, higher the value) and most importantly, HAD meaning to my life was a good deal. My Mom paid for me (Thank you Mommy XD) and my bracelet consisted of the following charms (including the ones I purchased today:
1.Sterling Sliver Bracelet- > $75 (required)
2. Korean Doll Charm-> $45, Meaning: My Korean music obsession
3. Love of My Life, Fancy Pink (2)-> $110 Meaning: My Mom Loves Me & I Love Her
4. Disney Sparkling Mickey & Hearts- > $95 Meaning: Love Mickey
5. Disney Minnie Pave-> $75, Meaning-> always love Minnie ALOT

6. King of the Jungle-> $45, Meaning-> My new Dad, King of Our world <3~

Total Value: $445

In total I have 6 charms out of the max 20 charms that can fit on the bracelet. The combination I have to admit really complements one another, especially with the sliver/pink mix. Im debating whether to add gold but with the other charms I'm planning on investing in, this bracelet will probably be mostly pink/sliver combo and will centre around my family, friends, hobbies and profession.

3 Charms I purchased/How they Look all Together
Now to talk about Pandora Customer Service:

I have went into two Pandora Locations so far: Yorkdale and Fairview
One of the negative about Yorkdale location (or the mall in general), is that they base their clients literally on appearance. Meaning, when you enter the store in a pair of sweats and don't look very "fancy", Don't expect to be served (unless its Michael Kors). When I went to show Noah the charms I were interested in, the two sales representatives didn't pay any attention to us. However, when two white females entered in the store, they were welcomed and address to immediately (racist much >3>). So I took my 200 bucks and decided not to purchase from that location.

Fairview has been where BOTH my Pandora purchased have been conducted and I have never had a bad experience. Both encounters, I was serviced immediately when I walked in (First by a beautiful chinese girl, Kimi and Second, by a white girl named Cameron). Both were friendly, inviting, served us immediately, looking into detail to find charms that would fit my currently bracelet and were really outgoing. Its rare to get such service so, I talked to the manager herself (sadly there isn't a online guest feedback section for Pandora :O) and I made sure to recommend both of them as amazing employees and deserve to work at that location for as long as possible (HI KIMI <3~).

Wish List Charms:
How my bracelet will look with (11/20) Charms
Customer Service Overall : 10/10
Did I Find What I was Looking for: YES

It was an amazing experience and I have no hesitation in going to that location or getting more Pandora charms in the near future. Me and YunJoo were both invited to this Holiday party event that they're holding on the 29th and selling a limited edition charm which usually sells out during that party so going to look into that. Fun day and can't wait to fill up my bracelet with the other 4-5 charms on my wish list.

Me and YunJoo: Two Very Happy Customers
Thank you YunJoo for Buying me the "King of the Jungle" Charm <3

Spring Rolls (春卷) Asian Cuisine Review

On Thursday, I got to go to Spring Rolls with my close friend Noah! I haven't been to spring rolls since I was 16 when I attended a staff christmas party (I use to work at Canadian Tire). So that was about 7 years ago. So this is my review on the experience/food.

We went to Spring Roll fairview location to dine in around 230pm. The arrangement was the same as 7 years ago (even though at that event it was at night around 12am). It still had its elegant and classy look to it but I wish they had added more colour or at least change it up a bit? Spring rolls is known for their various location being very different or as they state " uniquely and stylish" decor.
Floral arrangements are on point, colour is implemented well
and overall outlook portrays a classy, elegant look

So basically every Spring rolls will be designed differently and I guess location is a big part of it. I think if this location was in the downtown area, they would have to change the overall interior look occasionally for events due to a more "higher class" population being downtown. Though I love to stress the difference in classes (aka rich and the poor) in many of these reviews, not to say going to such locations make you "rich or poor" but due to the demographics and economy in each area, I can say that people who are more in the middle/high class rather go to malls like Yorkdale or Sherway Gardens, compared to Fairview which I feel isn't a really "high end" mall (maybe ill do a review on malls one day).

We were serviced very quickly and sat down to order. I remember Spring rolls being a bit more expensive than other restaurants (which for the quality of food and everything being fresh would make sense) and that night i had spent around 60 bucks (Ate Korean steak dish, had 3 strawberry daiquiri's and I honestly don't remember if I got dessert...I feel the alcohol was what hitched the price). The Menu was different from what I recall, so I assumed it was the Lunch menu so their was not as many options compared to dinner which was more like a book type menu with many wine options and main course choices.

Now to what we ordered:
Appetizers:
    Chicken Vegetable Japanese Gyoza
         -> Pan fried dumplings served with soy-ginger sesame sauce - $4.99
    Dim Sum
        -> HarGow Steamed Shrimp Dumplings- chopped pieces of shrimp filled with translucent, wheat starch & cornstarch based pouch- $3.99
       -> Shumai- open faced dumplings filled with ground shrimp, pork and garnished with red dot of dyed scrambled egg - $3.99

    Japanese (Signature Rolls)
    ->  Deluxe Dragon Roll
        Tempura shrimp, crab meat, salmon, tuna, butterfish, cucumber, tobiko, avocado and mayonnaise- $11.99
    ->  Submarine Roll

    Unagi, avocado and tobiko topped with fresh salmon and edible gold flakes $13.99

    The total cost for the food was about $40 dollars. Adding Noah drink and tip the total cost was around $50 dollars, which in my personal opinion is pretty pricey for lunch. However, as I stated earlier, for the quality of food the price is nothing of significance.

    The food was really good! I was impressed. The taste was different from the average sushi you have at all you can eat restaurants and as seen in the pictures, time and effort was implemented on both the making and organization of the sushi on the plate (kinda like a master piece or work of art). Overall, I was very impressed. While we were finishing up, a group of 5-6 people came in and was seated. They looked at the menu for 3 minutes and soon were up and out the door. Not to say they couldn't afford the food but I got the feeling it was too expensive for their budget. Was an expensive lunch (Thank you Noah <3) but was defiantly worth the price.

    Experience = 9/10
        -> It took some time for the food to come to our table which indeed is evident from the time it
            takes to organize such works of art but could have been better due to the fact it wasn't busy.
            Only shows that if it was dinner, we may have waited longer

    Food =10/10
      -> No complaints in that department. Fresh and Tasted amazing, nothing more to it.
